A guided claimant interview and physician review help disability case managers clarify symptoms, functional impact, treatment adequacy, medication concerns, comorbidities, safety issues, recovery barriers and appropriate next steps.
The space between uncertainty and a full assessment
For insurers, this can begin much like requesting a set of clinical scales: validated measures are integrated into the screening. The service goes substantially further by combining those results with a guided interview, functional and treatment context, and physician review. Scores are interpreted in the context of the individual rather than treated as a standalone conclusion.
Some claims raise important mental health questions without immediately requiring a comprehensive psychiatric assessment. Continuum’s screening program provides a lower-cost, physician-reviewed way to organize the available information, identify what matters clinically and define the most proportionate next step.
The resulting guidance may help a case manager seek targeted information from the treating provider, raise treatment considerations with the GP, initiate a psychiatric referral, explore workplace accommodations or continue monitoring recovery.

More consistent screening, less administrative synthesis, targeted medical requests and a documented rationale for recommended next steps.
A more accessible intake experience with less repetition of sensitive information and earlier identification of issues that may be delaying recovery.
A concise physician-reviewed summary that highlights clinical concerns, functional impact and practical questions for follow-up.
Faster escalation, better-focused referrals and more proportionate use of specialist resources.
Clear clinical boundaries
The program does not independently diagnose, determine benefit entitlement or replace a psychiatric assessment. Digital tools support collection and organization of information; the reviewing physician can examine and challenge the underlying information and remains accountable for clinical guidance.
The claimant’s account, clinical context and opportunity to correct factual errors matter. Clear human contact and ongoing reassessment remain available when circumstances change.
Benefit decisions remain with the insurer. When the screening identifies complexity, risk or unanswered diagnostic questions requiring specialist evaluation, a psychiatric assessment may be recommended.
