For insurers and referral partners
A Clinician-Governed Alternative in Occupational Psychiatry
Insurers should not have to choose between clinical quality, responsive service, and responsible pricing.
Continuum is a not-for-profit occupational psychiatry organization founded and governed by occupational psychiatrists. We provide insurers with access to the same calibre of experienced psychiatrists currently serving the disability market, but through a model built around clinical excellence rather than shareholder returns.
Clinical leadership makes the difference
Clinical leadership guides psychiatrist selection, referral matching, report standards, quality assurance, turnaround expectations and follow-up support. Our performance is evaluated according to the measures that matter to insurers:
- Clinical quality and consistency
- Report clarity, completeness and defensibility
- Turnaround times
- Appointment availability
- Geographic and linguistic coverage
- Responsiveness to insurers and claim professionals
- Referral administration and status visibility
- Credentialing, privacy and information security
- Follow-up support
Technology in service of clinical judgment*
Continuum’s Technology-Enabled Clinical Solutions use advanced digital tools to enhance assessment, streamline workflows and support better outcomes. Clinicians review the information behind a recommendation, question inconsistencies and remain accountable for their clinical opinions. The claimant’s individual circumstances and voice guide the interpretation.
Technology should make conversations with claimants, treating providers and case managers more informed. It should preserve clear routes to a person, support correction of factual errors and allow follow-up as treatment and work capacity change.
The partnership combines Continuum’s psychiatric expertise with Athel AI’s conversational technology to develop tools for optimized clinical intake. Together, we aim to reduce administrative burden, strengthen the information available to clinicians and make more effective use of specialist time, with physician oversight and clinical accountability guiding development.
If preferred, these services can also be delivered without AI-enabled tools. Please contact us for more information.
A clearer path from assessment to treatment
Through our collaboration with BrainStim Health, claimants may be referred from a Continuum assessment to repetitive or deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS/dTMS) when clinically indicated for depression, including treatment-resistant depression.
For insurers and case managers, the collaboration supports clearer treatment direction, coordinated care, and meaningful updates on treatment response and functioning, with claimant consent. Referrals are based on clinical need, and claimants remain free to choose their treatment provider.
Responsible pricing. Sustainable service.
Continuum’s pricing is designed to make specialist psychiatric services more accessible while supporting the resources required to deliver them reliably: competitive clinician compensation, professional administration, quality assurance, secure technology and appropriate operating reserves.
Our not-for-profit structure allows surpluses to strengthen clinical capacity and service delivery. Sustainable pricing and disciplined financial management support our ability to serve clients over the long term.
Freedom to choose
We do not require exclusivity, long-term commitments or minimum referral volumes. Insurers may use Continuum’s infrastructure or work directly with an independent psychiatrist, including one they already know and trust. We are happy to facilitate those introductions.
We intend to earn loyalty through quality, responsiveness and value—not by controlling access to clinical talent.
Measurable performance
We report transparently against clearly defined performance measures:
- Time from referral to appointment
- Assessment-to-report time and on-time delivery
- Correction and substantive-revision rates
- Response time for questions and supplementary opinions
- Availability, coverage, client satisfaction and issue resolution
Built for reliability and scale
Our psychiatrist network is supported by professional referral administration, standardized workflows, quality assurance, secure systems and active capacity management. We maintain operating reserves and reinvest surpluses so that growth never compromises quality or turnaround times.
Independent, credible and clinician governed
Assessing psychiatrists remain fully responsible for their independent professional opinions; Continuum does not dictate conclusions. Clinician governance sets professional standards while the organization remains accountable for service performance.
